Editor’s note: The vote was largely along party lines; however, Democrats Stell Parker Selby, D-Milton; Sean Lynn, D-Dover; and Sean Matthews, D-Talleyville, voted against the bill. Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, and Sherae’a Moore, D-Middletown, were absent.
Due to one of the most disgusting displays of inside-the-beltway hardball tactics now used by Democrats in the Delaware General Assembly, our local doctors and physicians may soon be controlled by elected officials in Dover.
In a bizarre twist of “healthcare for all” and “my body, my rights” slogans heard from Democrats for years, the Delaware House of Representatives has recently shown, through the partisan passage of House Bill 350, that they know better than trained medical professionals. I dare any of the elite committee members of the Eastern Sussex County Democrats or other local Democratic party officials to find a local doctor in the Cape Region who thought the passage of HB 350 was a good idea.
Shame on the hyper-partisan and misguided Delaware Democrats, led by Speaker of the House Valerie Longhurst, for ignoring the pleas of our medical experts and passing a bill that shifts decision making away from local doctors and hospitals to a politically appointed board.
With your help, this can still be stopped. Please side with your doctors and healthcare professionals, and call your district state senator and tell them to vote no on HB 350 when it comes before a vote in the Delaware Senate. Let’s see if Senate Democrats listen and truly care about those of us who live, work and pay taxes in the First State.
