April Stanley Woodard, enjoyed cooking, reading

April “Bunny” Stanley Woodard, 81, of Georgetown, went home to be with Lord Tuesday, May 14, 2024.  She passed away peacefully at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford after a long illness. 

April was born April 2, 1943, in Milford, to the late Wilson “Larry” Stanley and Clara “Pauline” Johnson Stanley.

April graduated from Georgetown High School in 1961. She was a member of the Business Leaders of America and played on the girls’ field hockey team.

In her spare time, she liked to read, cook, and look for recipes. Before she became sick, she liked to paint and do crafts.  April was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star Unity Chapter 16 in Lewes.

She leaves behind her children, Maryann Hassler and husband Roy, and Charles Heck and wife Barkley; a sister, Jo Ann Stanley Jefferson; three grandchildren, Steven Hassler, Dale Hassler and Harley Heck; a great-grandson, Kayden Hassler; cousins, Pam Johnson and Frederick Gentner; and Kim Jefferson who helped care for her.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 24, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at noon. Burial will be held privately. The family encourages everyone to come as you are and wear April’s favorite color, purple.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
