Bayhealth celebrates inpatient nurse residency graduates

April 28, 2025

Bayhealth recently announced the graduation of 35 nurses from its Inpatient Nurse Residency Program.

The yearlong program, accredited with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Practice Transition Accreditation Program, supports new nurses as they transition from nursing school to independent practice.

The graduates’ achievements and professional development were acknowledged in a ceremony held April 3 at the Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus.

Keynote speaker Rosemary Wurster, DNP, RN, MPH, NEA-BC, FACHE, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nurse executive, delivered an inspiring message and celebrated all 35 graduates for continuing their careers with Bayhealth.

Designed for nurses with fewer than 12 months of acute-care experience, the inpatient nurse residency program provides comprehensive training, mentorship and hands-on experience with the Bayhealth Magnet nursing team throughout several inpatient units. Nurses hired within one of these units who also have fewer than 12 months of care experience are automatically enrolled in the program.

"We are incredibly proud of this graduating class, and their dedication to professional growth and excellence in patient care," said Erica McPhail, MSN, RN, APRN, AGCNS-BC, NPD-BC, adult inpatient nurse residency coordinator. "Their hard work and commitment throughout this program will have a lasting impact on our health system and the community we serve."
