Beebe Healthcare’s annual spring health fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 18, in its new location at the Georgetown CHEER Community Center.

Beebe’s free health fairs are a great resource for community members to receive screenings and resources, and learn from Beebe experts in their fields. Free lunch is also provided for attendees.

Presentations will begin at 10 a.m., with guest speaker Gavin Furlong, a Beebe Medical Foundation donor and cancer survivor. He will be sharing his experience and treatment at Beebe, noting the increased presence of colorectal cancer in young adults.

Following Furlong’s story, Owen Thomas, MD, a board-certified radiation oncologist, will present on age-related cancer screenings as well as discussing what cancer is and steps people can take to help prevent it.

The final presentation is from Chistopher Manieri, DO, a board-certified bariatric surgeon at Beebe’s Center for Weight Loss Surgery. He will discuss valuable tips on nutrition, obesity and how weight-loss surgery can be the most effective step for long-term success.

Additional professionals from healthcare and community organizations will also be available to provide information and answer questions. Topics include: estate planning, senior care, end-of-life care, insurance information, annual wellness checks, preventative care, and health/fitness information and coaching.

There will also be resources on Stop the Bleed training, safe sleep for infants, services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, planning for emergencies and disasters, Narcan training and LGBTQ resources.
