George William McGinnis, talented handyman

George William McGinnis, 64, of Georgetown, passed away unexpectedly at home Tuesday, May 14, 2024. He was born in Milford. George was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Joan Fletcher.

George was a talented handyman and jack of all trades. He was an exquisite storyteller and enjoyed cooking, finding treasures at Wilson’s Auction, and collecting duck decoys. He also loved all animals, especially his dogs Boone and Sadie.

George is survived by two children, Ashley Robinson and husband Trae, and Joshua Wade McGinnis; a granddaughter, Zoe Robinson (whom he loved spoiling); three brothers, Steve Wilson and wife Kelly, Randy Fletcher, and Ernie Fletcher and wife Christine; one sister, Linda Robinson and husband Ron; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 1, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the funeral home to help defray the funeral expenses.
