For the first time since being announced the winner of the 2020 presidential race against President Donald Trump, President-elect Joe Biden was in Rehoboth Beach this past weekend. Biden purchased a house in North Shores, a community between Rehoboth Beach and Gordons Pond, during the summer of 2017.
Over the years, Biden and his family have been seen in downtown stores numerous times. This time around, he stayed close to home; his only public outing was a bike ride through Cape Henlopen State Park. Joining the president-elect on his long weekend in Rehoboth was a throng of national and international media outlets.
Chris Flood has been working for the Cape Gazette since early 2014. He currently covers Rehoboth Beach and Henlopen Acres, but has also covered Dewey Beach and the state government. He covers environmental stories, business stories and random stories on subjects he finds interesting, and he also writes a column called Choppin’ Wood that runs every other week. Additionally, Flood moonlights as the company’s circulation manager, which primarily means fixing boxes that are jammed with coins during daylight hours, but sometimes means delivering papers in the middle of the night. He’s a graduate of the University of Maine and the Landing School of Boat Building & Design.
