This sturdy-looking insect - known as a robber or assassin fly - is identified on Wikipedia as part of the Asilidae family. Sent in by Richard Martin, this photo was taken when he and his wife, Peggy, were in the ocean about three miles beyond the Harbor of Refuge Light.
